Hi all, this is JH.

Greetings to you, during this amazing time. We are now in 2026!

Every year-end and holiday season, a similarly atmospheric lineup of films inevitably appears on American cable TV and streaming platforms. They're a bit jarring, but strangely enough, I find myself watching them over and over again...

In a typical setup, a protagonist living a work- and performance-focused life in a big city moves to a small town just before Christmas. There, he encounters a warm community and people, leading him to rethink his priorities. Ultimately, the film ends happily ever after with love. In the United States, these films are called " Hallmark movies ."

The film "A Merry Christmas Wish" (2022) is also about a big-city marketing expert who attempts to sell his family farm, only to change his plans after meeting the local community and its people. If you know of a similar film (or have a favorite to watch at the end of the year or beginning of the year), please recommend it.

I've only lived in the US for a little over 10 years, and only in California.

I don't think I know America very well. However, if I were asked, "What kind of country is America?", I would say, " It's the land of fundraising and donations."

Donations are quite common in the United States. Even elementary schools naturally donate to school events. Some schools even award the largest donor with a parking space right in front of the school. Considering parking is always a problem when dropping off children in the morning, this is a realistic reward. (There's always chaos in front of the school.)

This culture of giving is especially powerful when it comes to influencers and games. Yogscast, a popular YouTube channel, held its annual year-end fundraising event, Jingle Jam 2025 has begun! This year, it featured a host of familiar influencers, including The Yogscast, RTGame, and Mongraal.

Game companies provide game keys, and regular users participating in the event purchase them. However, the money raised does not go to the game company, but is entirely donated. This year, the total raised exceeded 6.8 billion Korean Won . This truly is a win-win event, providing benefits to gamers, a donation to society, and an opportunity for game companies to promote their games.

By the way, this article might be a bit boring since it has my face in it, but Gameshot also published the interview, so I'm sharing it with you.

I hope you had a wonderful and joyful holiday season, just like a Hallmark movie that warmly wraps up Christmas. Thank you for this year, and happy holidays!

(In the US, the year-end greetings have changed like this, but I like Merry Christmas! better haha)
