YouTube: “We won't show ads in AI-generated videos”

YouTube has announced that starting July 15, it will no longer advertise on AI-generated videos - meaning that repetitive, automated, and inauthentic content will no longer be monetized.

But what does YouTube mean by “authentic content”? For example, a documentary made by AI can still be considered authentic if it's narrated by a human voice or analyzed with a personal touch. Conversely, videos that consist entirely of TTS, auto-generated videos with repetitive formats, and videos with AI-copied descriptions but inconsistent content are not eligible for monetization 🙅.

YouTube will consider your video upload patterns, whether the title and description match the actual video, whether you use an AI voice, and whether your content is repetitive or spammy.

We thought we were getting used to AI-generated content, but it's not about “looking like a human,” it's about content that has a reason to be human.
