Belated New Year's Greetings + This Is Game Series News

Hello, this is JH!

I missed my chance to greet you in January. Instead, I'm sending you my New Year's greetings, albeit belated after the Lunar New Year. Happy New Year!

The Super Bowl happened not too long ago, I'm sure everyone in the US has heard of the Super Bowl at least once, right?

However, many reviews say that this year's outcome was less exciting gameplay.

Instead, the Puppy Bowl, held before the game, was a hot topic for another reason. It's a program that airs before the Super Bowl, showcasing shelter puppies frolicking around a mini stadium, much like a sports broadcast. It also serves as a campaign to encourage dog adoption. This year, it attracted approximately 15.3 million viewers, reportedly its highest viewership in eight years. It seems like the perfect balance of lighthearted fun, a message encouraging adoption, and the adorable Reels videos posted on Instagram.

Global Gaming News

19,000 games were released on Steam, but almost half of them are hardly noticed.

According to a PC Gamer article, over 19,000 games were released on Steam in 2025. However, nearly half of them received fewer than 10 reviews, and over 10% received no reviews at all.

Our ContentFlux data shows a similar picture. Of the 100,000 games, only 33.1% (33,100) had at least one YouTube video, and only 19.2% (19,200) had at least one Twitch stream.

It feels like we're living in an era where discovery (the ability to discover) is more challenging than creation. I think the question we need to address now is not "How do we create?" but "How do we make it discoverable?"

GC News

We recently launched a weekly series on ContentFlux in collaboration with This Is Game. Perhaps some of you have already seen it?

Two installments have been published so far.

We're continuing our efforts to interpret the "atmosphere" through data. We'll continue to bring you content that explores the context beyond the numbers. (Click on the image below to access the dedicated page for this series.)

Gamescom Latam & GDC

And one more piece of news. I've been selected as a Solo Session speaker at Gamescom Latam, taking place from April 29th to May 3rd.

The topic is “The Content Compass: Navigating the Gaming Market with Real-Time Influencer Analytics Measuring game success and marketing acceptance through influencer content data.” I’m not sure if anyone will be able to come, but it would be great to meet you in Brazil.

Oh, and you don't have to wait until April. If you're attending GDC in San Francisco in March, please contact us. It's a bit late to start the new year, but we'll continue to bring you interesting stories within the flow of content this year. Thank you!
