[Monthly GC] Waymo and KCON in LA (feat. Heading to Gamescom?)

Hi everyone, this is JH from GC US 🙌

I heard Korea got a brief cool-down thanks to "ipchu magic" (the first day of autumn on the lunar calendar), only for a late heatwave to roll right back in. Hopefully it'll be a bit cooler by the time I write to you again 🍃

How do people move house in the US? 📦

I moved recently, and every time I do, I miss Korea's all-in-one packing-and-moving service so much. So how do Americans handle moving?

First, you go to Home Depot to buy moving boxes — it's a site that carries pretty much everything related to building, renovating, or DIY-ing a home. Then you rent a truck from U-Haul (the go-to self-move/truck rental company in the US). After that, it's a full DIY move! Packing and unpacking… takes a seriously long time 😮‍💨

Then recently I found a Chinese-run moving company called "Brothers Moving" and shouted "Eureka!" You still have to pack everything yourself, and they're not as meticulous as Korea's packing-move services, but they load things up quickly and it takes way less time — I'm a total convert now 😄

Waymo, met on a business trip to LA 🚕

A big event called KCON was held in LA this time, and I went out to support by inviting influencers to a client's booth. (I've shared more about the event and influencer content below, so take a look 😊)

Parking near the convention center is expensive and hard to find, so I mostly got around by Waymo. With no driver, I could sing along by myself, join online meetings on the way… there were a lot of conveniences, honestly.

But as luck would have it, a regular taxi driver happened to be right where I got out. He called out after me, "Thanks for supporting AI. You are going to lose your job also…" (said in a completely sarcastic tone 😅)

It wasn't so much annoying as it was oddly sad… it suddenly reminded me of the early Industrial Revolution stories from history textbooks. I have a feeling this might become a much more common everyday moment going forward.

KCON meets bibigo 🎶🥟

K-pop has grown beyond music into a full-blown global culture. Led by BTS, it's picked up huge numbers of fans in the US too, and KCON — the world's largest K-Culture festival held every year across the US, Japan, Thailand, and more — has been getting plenty of attention as a result.

For the second year running, GC invited a range of influencers to KCON, held at the LA Convention Center. We brought influencers interested in K-Culture to the bibigo booth set up at the venue and produced a variety of content there,

Built around the concept of 'K-Flavor Arcade' and four flavor themes representative of K-food — kimchi, sweet-and-salty, sweet-and-spicy, and spicy — the booth program let us naturally introduce bibigo's signature flavors to KCON attendees and to the many people who followed along on Instagram and TikTok.
